Terms of Sponsorship

Last updated: September 29, 2026

Important Disclosure

Sponsorships are gifts, not investments. They carry no financial return, no equity, and no repayment obligation from the farmer to you. Sponsorships are not tax-deductible.

1. What a Sponsorship Is

When you sponsor a farmer through Maputo Bridge Capital, you are making a gift that funds the farmer's agricultural season. Your sponsorship pays for seeds, fertilizer, and inputs at the farmer's local agro-dealer shop. You receive the receipt and field photos showing what was purchased.

2. What a Sponsorship Is Not

  • It is not an investment — you receive no equity, shares, or ownership
  • It carries no financial return — you will not receive any money back
  • It is not a loan — the farmer has no repayment obligation to you
  • It is not tax-deductible — consult a tax advisor for your specific situation

3. Fee Split

92% of your sponsorship goes to the farmer's local seed and fertilizer shop. 8% covers field verification visits and receipt documentation. This split applies to every sponsorship, one-time or monthly.

4. The Community Fund

After harvest, the farmer repays into a Community Fund that sponsors the next farmer. This creates a sustainable, pay-it-forward cycle. These repayments go to the Community Fund, not to individual sponsors.

5. Refund Policy

If you contact us within 48 hours of making a sponsorship and the funds have not yet been sent to the agro-dealer, we will issue a full refund. Once funds have been disbursed to the seed shop, sponsorships are non-refundable, as the money has been spent on agricultural inputs.

6. Canceling Monthly Sponsorships

You can cancel a monthly sponsorship at any time. To cancel, use the subscription management link in any email you receive from us, or visit our Manage Subscription page. Cancellation takes effect before the next billing cycle. You will not be charged after cancellation.

7. No Guarantee of Outcomes

Agriculture is subject to weather, pests, and market conditions beyond anyone's control. While we verify every farmer and publish receipts, we cannot guarantee specific harvest results. We publish our risks openly at /risks.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms periodically. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
