What the Satellite Data Shows
Sentinel-2 satellite imagery (10-meter resolution, updated every 5 days) provides NDVI scores for each farmer's fields. Here's what the data reveals:
- Zambézia (0.78) and Manica (0.71-0.72) have the healthiest crops — these provinces have the best rainfall and soil conditions
- Gaza (0.43) and Inhambane (0.51) are struggling with drought — these are the driest provinces and most vulnerable to climate change
- Nampula (0.66) and Cabo Delgado (0.69) are performing moderately — crops are growing but not exceptional
This data feeds directly into our credit scoring model. Farmers in higher-NDVI provinces get better credit scores — which means they qualify for larger loans at lower rates. Farmers in lower-NDVI provinces get smaller loans with crop insurance to protect against weather risk.
What the Blockchain Shows
Every loan disbursement and repayment is logged to our private SHA-256 blockchain. 22 blocks total. Here's what each block contains:
- Transaction ID
- Farmer ID and name
- Loan amount (USD)
- NDVI score at time of disbursement
- Credit score at time of approval
- Timestamp
- Previous block hash (creating an unbreakable chain)
No block has been tampered with. No transaction has been altered. The blockchain proves that the money went where we said it went.
What the M-Pesa Data Shows
All disbursements and repayments flow through M-Pesa, e-Mola, or mKesh — Mozambique's three mobile money networks. Every transaction generates a reference ID that can be verified. The /proof page shows these reference IDs alongside farmer profiles and investment amounts.
Honest Assessment
Not everything is perfect. Here's what's not working:
- Gaza farmer is likely to partially default due to drought. Our 15% loan loss reserve will cover the gap. This is why the reserve exists.
- Inhambane farmer underperformed due to low rainfall. We're adjusting our credit model to weight weather risk more heavily for dry provinces.
- Only 7 farmers — this is a pilot. The infrastructure is built for 9.5 million. Scaling requires capital.
- 72.2% repayment — not 100%. We don't promise perfection. We promise honesty. Our competitors don't publish repayment rates at all.
